This is a free online group for parents who would like to connect with other parents to talk about these new feelings and experiences and learn about helpful tools and resources. This group is for peripartum and postpartum parents (from conception to 2 years after birth) having difficulties adjusting to parenthood. Absolutely and of course, LGBTQI+ and adoptive parents are part of and welcome in this group.

The group is led by me, Alex, an American expatriate living in Germany/Switzerland since 2002. I am mother to two children born in 2008 and 2015 and had postpartum depressive episodes with both of them. I also have a history of depression not related to pregnancy or childbirth that goes back to my adolescence.

Recently I have turned these experiences into my career. I am a peer counselor and collaborate with clients seeking recovery support on various wards of the Psychiatric Services at the Thurgovian Cantonal Hospital in Münsterlingen. In addition, I am a member of the Guideline Steering Committee for the development of clinical guidelines for the management of postpartum depression in association with the Swiss Society for Early Childhood Research. I have also been a Board Member at Postpartum Depression Switzerland since 2014.

It it is my heart's desire to support you through this time in this virtual space for discussion, exchange and understanding. There are no taboo subjects. Our common goal is to get and stay on a road to recovery, where we start to recognize ourselves again as who we once were while acknowledging and embracing the new people we have become.
